Standard Tube and Pipe Bimetallic (Al/SS) Transition Couplings
Atlas bimetallic transition couplings are robust, metallurgically-bonded dissimilar metal joints used to weld dissimilar metal tubes or pipes. These high strength joints are reliable and engineered to withstand typical welding temperatures. They are hermetic and suitable for use in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) and are used in thousands of cryogenic and industrial applications worldwide.
Our bimetallic couplings enable the direct coupling of dissimilar metal tubes and pipes with different thermal conductivities (e.g. copper to stainless steel). These fittings are used extensively in cryogenic lines and other thermal transfer applications where contrasting heat transfer is needed. They are also used in nonmagnetic and nuclear applications where the properties of one metal must be reliably switched to that of another.

Due to our use of proprietary interlayers in our explosion welding process, our bimetallic joints are fully metallurgically compatible. They are bonded with a low-diffusion method that minimizes porosity and maximizes strength.
Our bimetal tube and pipe transition couplings are available in all standard sizes, wall thicknesses, and schedules ranging from ⅜” to 40″ diameter (DN10 to DN750). Pressure testing and certification up to 400 psi is offered.
