Standard Tube and Pipe Bimetallic (Al/SS) Transition Couplings
Atlas bimetallic transition couplings are robust, metallurgical bonded dissimilar metal joints used to weld dissimilar metal tubes or pipes. These high strength joints are reliable and engineered to withstand typical welding temperatures. They are hermetic and suitable for use in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV). They are used in thousands of cryogenic, ultra high vacuum (UHV), and industrial applications worldwide.
Our bimetallic couplings enable the high thermal conductivity of one metal (aluminum or copper) to directly transition to a poor thermal conducting metal such as stainless or titanium. Consequently they are used extensively in cryogenics as cryogen liquid or gas lines, or other thermal transfer applications where contrasting heat transfer is needed. They are also used in nonmagnetic or nuclear applications where the properties of one metal must be reliably switched to that of another.

Our all-welded bimetallic joints are fully metallurgical. They are explosive bonded using with a propriety low diffusion method that minimizes porosity maximizes strength.
